Every year National Dentist Day is observed on March 6. The day promotes the significance of oral well-being and cleanliness among the masses. The day also recognises the contributions of dentists and allows us to thank them for their dedication
1. Start early with proper brushing: Even before the first tooth emerges, a healthy practice of using a soft, damp cloth to clean their gums should be adopted
2. Opting for the right toothbrush: Always prefer using a toothbrush with small and soft bristles. Replace the toothbrush every 3-4 months if the bristles appear worn out
3. Limiting sweets and drinks: Excessive sugar consumption can lead to tooth decay. Therefore always limit sugary snacks and chocolates. Ensure brushing of teeth after the consumption of sweets as well
4. Adopt a proper brushing technique: Use gentle circular motions, brushing all sides of each tooth. Brushing should last for at least two minutes to ensure a thorough clean
5. Use fluoride toothpaste: Fluoride is a mineral present in toothpaste. Choose the fluoride toothpaste wisely
6. Regular dental check-ups: In order to help ensure healthy teeth development, and identify the tooth issues early on, regular check-ups are recommended | Shutterstock
