This isn’t your average bridge—it’s a river in the sky. The Sart Canal Bridge in Houdeng-Aimeries, Belgium, allows boats to glide over highways and valleys without interruption. Supporting over 4 meters of water, this post-tensioned concrete structure had to be engineered with extreme precision due to poor soil conditions and massive weight distribution requirements. Circular piles spaced 36 meters apart were used to anchor it into the unstable terrain.

The bridge deck—65,000 tons of reinforced concrete—was not built in place but pushed forward in a progressive launch, a record-setting technique at the time. This unique water bridge is a testament to how infrastructure can defy gravity while seamlessly blending waterways with modern road systems.
