The Senate Sub-Committee on Religious Affairs has ordered the Ministry of Religious Affairs to refund Rs36 bil

The Senate Sub-Committee on Religious Affairs has ordered the Ministry of Religious Affairs to refund Rs36 billion to over 67,000 Pakistani pilgrims who couldn’t perform Hajj in 2025 due to administrative and legal failures.

The refund, to be made without deductions by August 15, follows revelations of major mismanagement by private Hajj operators.

Only 26,986 out of 90,000 applicants met criteria due to delays and missed Saudi deadlines.
The committee called for strict audits, technology-driven procurement, and better public awareness. A federal commission has also been recommended to oversee future operations.
