📄 Kyiv experienced its most intense aerial assault in months as Russian forces unleashed a barrage of over 400 kamikaze drones and 18 missiles, targeting residential neighborhoods and critical infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital. At least 2 people were killed and more than 20 injured, according to emergency authorities.

Ukrainian air defense systems, including NASAMS and IRIS-T, intercepted the majority of incoming threats — reportedly over 80% — but some missiles penetrated the shield, causing widespread damage to homes, hospitals, energy grids, and public utilities.

“Explosions echoed through the night — it felt like no place was safe anymore,” a local Kyiv resident told Ukrainian media.

Emergency crews are now working to stabilize affected areas and restore essential services as fears of continued strikes remain high.

Russia is expected to intensify pressure on urban centers like Kyiv as Ukraine ramps up mobilization and Western aid continues. Future assaults will likely combine drone swarms with precision missile strikes to exhaust air defenses. Ukraine may call for additional Western air defense systems and replenished missile stockpiles to maintain current interception rates.
