On June 29, large-scale LGBTQ+ pride marches took place in major U.S. cities including New York, San Francisco, and Chicago, with thousands gathering under the banner of human rights and equality.

The New York Pride March, marking its 55th anniversary, drew approximately 75,000 marchers and an estimated 2 million attendees, rallying under the slogan “Rise Up: Pride & Protest.” This event commemorates the 1969 Stonewall riots, a pivotal moment in LGBTQ+ history and activism.

Despite the widespread public participation, corporate backing for pride events has sharply declined amid President Donald Trump’s policies targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and LGBTQ+ rights.

Research by Gravity Research found that 39% of major companies planned to reduce or halt sponsorships for Pride events in 2025, with no companies indicating an increase in support.

Recent months have seen significant losses in sponsorship: New York Pride reported a 20% drop in corporate support, while San Francisco Pride lost major sponsors including Comcast and Anheuser-Busch.

This trend underscores the political and social challenges facing the LGBTQ+ community in the current U.S. landscape.
