Known to many as “The Waterman of Tsavo,” Patrick Mwalua dedicated the last years of his life to saving wildlife in Kenya’s parched national parks. Without access to water during harsh droughts, elephants, zebras, antelope, and buffalo faced mass starvation. Mwalua took it upon himself to drive over 100 kilometers each day, hauling 12,000 liters of water to fill dry watering holes by hand—often late into the night.

His efforts drew global attention, not only for their impact but for the humility and perseverance behind them. Even while battling chronic kidney disease, Patrick remained committed to the animals he loved.
