According to Le Parisien, the accomplice inmate used a trolley to wheel the bag past check-in counters and then exited the facility without any inspection — effectively smuggling Eliasid out of the prison.

A source familiar with the incident noted that the bag weighed between 50 to 60 kilograms, making it highly improbable that the accomplice was unaware of its contents.
“It’s hard to believe someone could carry that weight and not know what was inside,” the source remarked.

Sébastien Covelle, the prison commissioner, acknowledged multiple errors by the prison staff and expressed deep regret.
