Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an MoU with Pony.ai to begin trials of autonomous vehicles later this year, marking a key milestone in the city’s Smart Self-Driving Transport Strategy.

The initiative aims to convert 25% of all city trips to driverless journeys by 2030.

The agreement sets the stage for a full-scale rollout in 2026. Pony.ai’s cutting-edge seventh-generation self-driving cars—developed with major automakers and tech giants—will power the trials.

The collaboration underscores Dubai’s ambition to become a global leader in smart mobility.
