Chrysler’s 1963 Turbine Car was one of the boldest experiments in automotive history. Equipped with a jet-inspired A-831 turbine engine, this futuristic vehicle could run on a wide variety of fuels—including kerosene, diesel, jet fuel, and yes, even tequila. The engine had fewer moving parts, was virtually maintenance-free, and could rev to an astonishing 60,000 RPM without needing traditional components like a radiator or crankshaft.

Although it captured the world’s imagination, the Turbine Car was ultimately grounded by cost, fuel efficiency concerns, and strict emissions regulations.
