CCTV Footage Emerges in Kolkata Law Student Rape Case

CCTV footage has surfaced showing a 24-year-old student from South Calcutta Law College being forcibly dragged from the college gate into the premises, where she was allegedly raped earlier this week, sources in Kolkata Police told NDTV.

According to the investigation, the incident took place on June 25 in the guard’s room of the college. The woman has accused two senior students and a former student of sexually assaulting her. The footage reportedly supports her statement, in which she claims the main accused, Manojit Mishra, ordered the other two to forcefully take her to the guard room.

“The CCTV footage aligns with the survivor’s complaint. It captures the movements of the three accused, the security guard, and the victim. We are thoroughly reviewing it,” a police officer said.

Investigators believe the alleged gang rape may have been triggered by the woman’s refusal of a marriage proposal from the primary accused.
