📄Chinese authorities have announced plans to introduce the country’s first high-speed train service operating at 400 kilometers per hour on the Chengdu-Chongqing high-speed rail corridor in western Sichuan Province.

Officials from the State Railway Administration explained at a recent press conference that while the original design speed of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central High-Speed Railway is 350 km/h, certain sections meeting specific technical criteria will operate at 400 km/h, marking a national first.

The railway line, spanning 292 kilometers, began construction in November 2022 and is scheduled for completion by November 2027.

Previously, the China National Railway Group unveiled a model of the 400 km/h high-speed train late last year, touting it as the fastest high-speed train in the world.

This development signals China’s ongoing commitment to expanding its advanced rail infrastructure, potentially reshaping travel and economic connectivity in the western regions.

The successful deployment of 400 km/h trains on this route could set new standards for speed and efficiency in high-speed rail transport domestically and globally.
