📄Hamas has submitted multiple counterproposals to Israel’s 60-day ceasefire offer, emphasizing a continuation of negotiations rather than a return to combat, even if a permanent truce is not achieved during the pause. Senior Hamas officials confirmed that they are seeking to build on the phased ceasefire agreement reached on January 19.

After the initial 42-day period of the January agreement ended without further extension, Israel resumed military operations in Gaza in March. Hamas now insists on revisiting the January 19 framework and has proposed removing aid distribution from Israeli and U.S.-led control, favoring a return to United Nations and other international agencies managing relief efforts.

Hamas officials noted that a new agreement remains possible but is likely to take several more days, citing Israeli delays. Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office confirmed it is reviewing Hamas’s responses and has recalled its negotiation team from Qatar for further consultation.

Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, is expected to meet soon with Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer in Europe to advance the ceasefire dialogue.

Despite setbacks, ongoing diplomatic engagement suggests a tentative pathway toward a renewed ceasefire deal. However, political pressures within Israel and Hamas’s conditions on humanitarian control may complicate or delay a breakthrough. The next 7–10 days will be critical in determining whether talks can convert into a structured truce.

Hamas is pushing for continued diplomacy rather than a return to full-scale fighting, while Israel is cautiously assessing its position. The ceasefire talks remain fragile but active, with international mediation playing a pivotal role in maintaining momentum.
