Russia has reported the interception of 122 Ukrainian drones aimed at Moscow and surrounding regions in the early hours of July 17, marking one of the largest aerial assault waves this year.
According to Russian authorities, the country’s air defense systems successfully shot down nearly all incoming drones over the Moscow region, Smolensk, and parts of central Russia.
One civilian was reportedly injured, and several buildings sustained minor damage in the Smolensk region. Emergency services are currently assessing the full extent of the impact.
Security agencies described the drone operation as an unprecedented attempt by Ukraine to breach Russian airspace at scale.
