The unnamed official stated that the delegation is scheduled to travel to Qatar on July 6, marking a potential turning point in the protracted negotiations to halt hostilities in Gaza.

This development follows Hamas’ announcement that it had “positively responded” to a U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal. Both sides are now expected to convene in Doha for renewed negotiations aimed at ending the months-long conflict.

The proposed ceasefire plan, backed by U.S. President Donald Trump, includes a 60-day halt to fighting in the Gaza Strip. In exchange, Hamas would release 10 living hostages and return the bodies of 18 deceased hostages, while Israel would release a number of Palestinian prisoners.
